Boujie Girl of the Month: Imani Marshall-Stephen

Unspoken_Poster-221x300Imani Marshall-Stephenis a native of the Bronx, NY.  It is said that the booming echoes of Yankee fans’ screams can still be heard from inside her childhood bedroom.  The youngest of five children, she recognized her affinity for words and poetry at an early age amid the plush green carpet of her New York City home.  Her parents were both encouraging and understanding of her pull towards the fine arts.  They placed her in dance class, city chorus, and writing workshops to fuel the flames of her creative passions.

Mrs. Marshall-Stephen has written a book entitled Unspoken, which is available on Amazon.  “Unspoken is a poetic novella that tells the story of three generations of five women bound by family. This collection of persona poems is written from each woman’s prospective and, thus, brings their voices to the surface. Inspired by the strength and determination of women, these poems explore the roots of fear, love, independence, loss, and redemption. They share the secrets these women keep hidden in the depths of their being. In the end, it all comes down to self-discovery. Like many of us, they are all on a journey to find out who they are and where they fit in. Along the way, they stumble, but will they find their way back up again?”
